Childbirth Preparation Series

A highly recommended course for first time moms and their coaches. This full preparation class teaches expectant parents how to meet the challenges of childbirth with confidence. It covers an array of topics including the stages and phases of labor and delivery, hospital procedures, medication options, cesarean birth and postpartum adjustment. In addition, Lamaze breathing, relaxation and comfort techniques are taught and practiced to give parents the tools to deal with the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of the labor process.

Childbirth Preparation (One Day)

A FULL childbirth class taught in a single-day format that focuses on evidence-based information about the birth process and your choices, informed consent, medications, interventions, comfort techniques, breathing, relaxation and mindset preparation for birth. The class ends with bringing everything together with birth plan preparation.

Childbirth Preparation Express

Designed with busy families in mind, this one-time four-hour class gives new parents the basics of the birth process with an emphasis on evidence-based information and choices in childbirth. A short breathing and relaxation session with an introduction to comfort measures for labor and birth is included.

Comfort for Labor

Taught by an active Birth Doula, this one-time class allows expectant parents to spend time practicing labor comfort techniques. Emphasis is placed on breathing, relaxation, massage and the use of a variety of focal points. The class includes a "comfort kit" which includes a relaxation DVD, and a selection of relaxation tools for labor.

Breastfeeding Class

Taught by our certified lactation educator, this class helps moms and their support person develop the skills needed to make breastfeeding a successful and satisfying experience. Topics covered include advantages of breastfeeding and proper breastfeeding techniques. Dads and/or other support persons are encouraged and welcomed. Bring a doll/stuffed animal.

Newborn Care Class

This class helps parents develop the special skills and confidence necessary to care for their newborn. The educator will cover common newborn characteristics, hospital procedures, diapering, bathing, home readiness and baby calming techniques.

Big Brother Big Sister Class

This one-session class is designed for siblings ages four to 11 who will soon welcome a new little brother or sister into their family. Bring a doll/stuffed animal.

After Baby Arrives Lactation Support

After the birth of a baby, moms may need some help and encouragement with breastfeeding. Moms and babies will receive hands-on help and instruction from Sandy Salgado, a certified breastfeeding specialist with more than 26 years of experience. Moms will walk away with new ideas and techniques to improve their own breastfeeding success. There is a fee for this service.
